Setting Up an Account

To set up and use a
NetLibrary account you must have:

  •  McKinley Memorial Library card and a personal email address

  • PC with Windows 2000, XP or Vista and Windows Media Player version 9 or higher

  • Optional: a portable MP-3 player with Windows Media Player

4,000+ eAudio and eText titles including:
 

  • Adult, Young Adult, and Children's Fiction
    and Nonfiction

  • Pimsleur Foreign Language Series

  • Holy Bible (Contemporary English Version)

 The titles are free; there are no fines and no waiting for holds.

“CHECKING OUT” NETLIBRARY BOOKS

 Audio ebooks must be downloaded and saved to your personal computer (and then to a portable player if desired). The audio files can not be checked out/downloaded/saved/transferred via library PCs; this is due to licensing and security restrictions.

  • eAudio titles may be used for 3 weeks (1renewal)

  • 10 eAudio titles at one time are permitted on an account
     

 Text ebooks may be viewed on computers in the library with Internet access or on your personal computer. These files can not be downloaded to any portable devices.

  • eText titles are not actually checked out/downloaded

  • they appear in the browser and can be viewed in 15 minute increments

DOWNLOADING NETLIBRARY TITLES

AUDIO TITLES:
Once a desired audio title is located, click
Download this eAudiobook.

Then you must choose to either:
Checkout and Download CD Quality   
 
(highest quality; required for portable players)

OR 

Checkout and Download Radio Quality  
 
(For listening on PC with Windows Media Player)
 

Either choice will download and Save file to the hard drive of the PC first.

License Activation: To activate a license, you must open a new title in Windows Media Player on your PC first (before attempting to transfer to a portable device). You may be prompted to Log in again with your user name and password to "acquire" (confirm) the license. This must be done before transferring to portable player.

 TEXT TITLES:
Once a desired text title is located, simply click
View this eBook and the text pages and table of contents will appear in new windows. The book can be viewed in 15 minutes increments (after that the user must go back to the title description and click View again to re-open).
