McKinley Campaign Poster 1896 A
rare 1896 William McKinley campaign poster was recently donated
to the McKinley Memorial Library by Carol Kutner, Linda Freeman,
and Connie Kean in honor of their parents, Leonara and Simon
Gordon of Hillsboro, Ohio. The
8 by 10 foot poster has been hanging in Bell’s Opera
House in Hillsboro, in Southwestern Ohio, since the 1896
presidential campaign. The full-color poster was produced by the
Morgan Lithographic Company of Cleveland, well known for their
award-winning color lithographic work, and one of the largest
lithographic companies in the U.S. during the 1890s. The
poster, which now hangs in the Clayman Community Room of the
McKinley Birthplace Home and Research Center, was officially
unveiled for President’s Day, 2004.
